Jihad Akl was born in Beirut in 1968, studied music with his father, Ahmed Said Akl during the difficult times that Lebanon went through. In 1974, at age six, he won the Award of Merit from the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music. He was 14 when he was chosen as a performer on Lebanese radio and was the youngest performer in the radio station’s history; this gave him the opportunity to play in front of greats like Walid Gholmieh, Selim Sahab, Tawfiq Pasha and others.
Jihad was the band leader for Lebanese and Arab artists like Fairuz, Wadih El Safi and Majida Roumi.He found himself in solos,where he expressed his emotions and thoughts through a unique style of playing the violin, integrating east and west. He won many awards for his music style and solo performances. He performed at prestigious events and venues such as Egyptian Opera House, festivals in Morocco, Tunisia and Jordan, at the Presidential Palace in Lebanon, at the UN and in front of kings and presidents.
